FARRAGUT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all

consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are

in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.

2 Corinthians 1:3,4

Sewing Sisters

Meet: Fourth Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Library.

The Sewing Sisters begin their eighth season this year. We begin our meetings with a Quilting bee.  The Quilting Bee process is not like any your grandmother labored over in her day. We simply assemble the layers and tuft them together with yarn. Our goal is to enjoy an hour or so of fellowship while making something beautiful and useful for someone in need.

We have given away hundreds of receiving blankets, sheets, caps and quilts  to needy clinics and individuals as far away as the Dominican Republic of Congo and Malawi, and as close as Sunset Gap and the Newton Center.  Our  handiwork is done both by hand and by machine, both at home and during their social time together.

You are welcome to join this busy group of sewers! Sewing experience is not necessary. Feel free to bring along your project and join us.

If you have any questions, call Marge Griffth at 966-6664

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Meet: Fourth Tuesday of the month at 2:00 p.m. in the Parlor.

The Shawl Ministry at FPC was started in 2007 as another way to give comfort and prayer to those at FPC who are going through a difficult time in their lives. The intention is to pray for the recipient throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. As of July 2009, over fifty-five shawls have been given to those in need.

If you have questions, contact Connie Runtenber at 966-6232  or Cindy Nelson at 966-0974.
