Men Of the Church (MOC) Programs

Two major activities strive to promote the spiritual growth and fellowship for the men of Farragut Presbyterian Church:  The Men’s Dinner and the Men’s Breakfast.

Men’s Dinner:  Put Nov. 3rd @ 6 p.m. on your calendar!

On the First Monday of February, May, August, and November a dinner is held in fellowship hall.  Food is provided by a catering service and all attending help with the clean up.

Following the dinner a guest speaker addresses local mission, activities in our community, or a topic of general interest.  This low-keyed gathering enables the attendees to become better acquainted with one another, and get a bite to eat.

From time to take we take in a Smokies Baseball Game.  This summer event is always scheduled for a Monday, when we travel east to take in the ball game.  Besides enjoying cheering on the home team, Monday is the day hot dogs are one dollar.  That’s a deal hard to beat.

Men’s Breakfast

On the second and fourth Thursday of each month, at 8:00 a.m., we gather in fellowship hall for a “yummy” sausage biscuit (or plain if you prefer), juice, and coffee.  We share thoughts on a wide span of subjects:  travel, lessons learned in life, current home project, or – “there was a time when I . . ..”  There is also a short biblically-based lesson, reflecting on living the Christian life.  By 9:00 a.m. the dishes are washed and put away, and those attending are on their way knowing that Christ truly blesses everyone of us.

Outreach

Annually the Men of the Church conduct a low-keyed fundraising campaign to support the Intern Program at the Presbyterian Center, located on the U T campus.  The goal is the raise $1,500.  The Intern Program provides peer support for the students at the Presbyterian Center.  The interns work to fulfill the mission of the PC, which includes providing a setting in which one’s Christian faith can be explored through worship, study, outreach, and fellowship.  Interns bring a special dimension to campus ministry because they can relate to other young adults as social equals.
