Thank you!

A very gracious thank you to the outpouring of love and generosity from the baby shower on Sunday.  Mark and I continue to be overwhelmed as we sort through the piles of gifts.  More than the gifts, we have appreciated the support and encouragement of the congregation as my pregnancy has progressed, and are excited to introduce baby Daniel to you when he enters the world.  Thank you so very much.

Back-to-School at Sunset Gap . Look for the tree in the narthex and help sponsor a needy child in Cocke or Sevier County as you prepare your own children for back-to-school. All items are to be new except the winter coat, which may be used if in good condition. Please place item with tag under Back-to-School tree by August 3, 2008. Questions? Call Debbie Long, 966-7338 

 Sunset Gap Collection.  School supplies for Sunset Gap will be collected during July and early August and items may be placed in the designated hamper in the Narthex or brought to the Gathering on August 12 (the final collection date).  Items needed include:

        Pens, pencils                                  Crayons                        Colored pencils

        Blunt scissors                                 Markers.                        Rulers

        Binders (spiral, etc.)                       Pads of paper                Notebooks   

        Glue (bottles or sticks)                   Back packs (clear or mesh) 

      The UTK Presbyterian Center is offering reserved parking spaces for the UT Football season. They are taking bids for reserved parking spaces. The starting bid for the football season will be $150.00 All donations received will go directly to the ministry. Each donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be sent to each donor.
        Some of the benefits to parking at the Presbyterian Center include:
        •  A reserved parking space
        • Room to tailgate
        • Use of the basement kitchen
        • Use of the basement bathrooms
        • Use of the basement television and couches
Bids will be accepted until July 31, 2008, and they will contact you by August 8, 2008.   Please contact Sandra in the church office if you need a bid form. 

Grace School...
About two months ago the Rev. Sam Wambugu, the director of Grace School, Spoke to several groups in the church about their wonderful mission in Kenya. You are invited to support Grace School by writing a check and noting Grace School on the memo. If you have questions, please contact Lucy Flemming, Mary Key or Norm Naylor.

BIG SOUTH FORK CAMPOUT, September 12-14, A time of fun, food, and fellowship in God’s great outdoors. The 19^th annual All Church Campout at Big South Fork is scheduled starting Friday afternoon, September 12, and continues through Sunday morning worship around the campfire. Mark your calendars now and plan to join in on this popular event. See the August News Letter for more information. Registration forms and information package will be available starting the Sunday, August 24^th. 

 PW Annual Gathering 

The Annual Gathering of the Presbyterian Women will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  We will enjoy a delicious catered meal, a sing-a-long musical program featuring the talents of our own pianist, Ann Delcuze & the FPC Songsters, installation of the new officers and a preview of the Horizon Bible Study for next year. Dinner tickets ($8.00) can be purchased on Sundays July 20, 27 and August 3.  All women of the church and friends are invited.

MEN-OF-THE-CHURCH—Dinner on August 4^th

Bill Landry, producer of the locally acclaimed Heartland Series will be the guest speaker for the Men’s Dinner, on Monday, August 4. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. Reservations are needed no later than noon, Friday, August 1. We will order meals according to reservations received. Cost will be $8.00. Please complete a pew reservation card or call the church office (966-9547) to make a reservation. If you have any questions, please call Norm Naylor, 927-1318.
