Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care is a sub-committee of our Church Life Committee and strives to nurture and care for all who attend FPC. There are times in our lives when it is challenging to perform some of life’s routine tasks.  As a church family, we strive to help each other through these difficulties.  Our Share the Care program offers assistance with rides to appointments, yard care, household chores, etc. for those temporarily unable to perform these tasks. The Flower Ministry team gives their time and talents each week to create floral arrangements from the chancel flowers.  These bouquets are delivered to church members in need of cheer or kindness and to let them know they are thought of, prayed for, and loved during a time of challenge or celebration. (The Flower Ministry is on break during the pandemic.) Our Card Ministry recognizes important occasions and times of need to special groups, such as our college students and military service members/veterans who receive words of encouragement and loving messages. The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started in 2007 as a way to give comfort and prayer to those at FPC going through difficult times.   The recipient of the shawl is prayed for as it is knitted or crocheted, and a final blessing is offered as the shawl is presented.  Anyone interested in knitting or crocheting a prayer shawl may join this group on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. in the parlor.  The Reception Committee hosts funeral receptions and provide meals for members of the church and their extended families.  Receptions provide a place of hospitality for families and friends to gather, share, reminisce and remember the life of their loved one. Our Partner Program partners new church members with long-time members.  Existing members provide support, knowledge and encouragement to new FPC members as they grow in faith and fellowship here. The Home Communion ministry provides communion to those who are not able to attend church on Communion Sunday.  Elders of the church serve communion as an extension of the communion service at church.
