Presbyterian Women
We have four active circles at FPC. Two circles meet on the second Tuesday of each month
at 10 a.m. A third,
evening circle meets the third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., and the forth circle meets
on the second Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the church parlor. All women are
welcome . We will begin our monthly meetings in September when we will study
Jubilee! Luke's Gospel for the Poor.
Rev.
Thom Nelson will be leading a study for leaders in preparation for the
Sept. meetings on Tuesday Aug. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the Library. All are
welcome to join him, so if you can't make it to your regular meeting this
would be a good opportunity for you to be a part of the lesson.

Jubilee!
Luke's Gospel for the Poor
In the nine lessons of Jubilee! Luke's Gospel
for the Poor, Dale Lindsay Morgan highlights Jesus' message
of jubilee:". . . he has anointed me to bring good news to
the poor. . . . to proclaim release to the captives and recovery
of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free . . . " (Luke
4:18). Learn about the many ways that Christ's jubilee
message turned the world upside down, exalting the poor and
including outsiders, bringing the love of God to all.

In addition to our monthly
meetings we also gather together for three special programs. These are open to
all women and friends. Our first in April is our Birthday Offering Dinner and
Auction. In August we gathered for the Back to School Kickoff
dinner, where we had over 50 women attend. We were led in song by own own Ann
Delcuze and the FPC Songsters which was one of our most delightful programs
ever.
In December we enjoy the Thank Offering Dinner and
Auction. Our own Beth White arrives in full costume to lead the auctions and
ensure that we have fun spending our money for worthy causes. Our mission
support comes from a regular monthly offering and the proceeds from our two
auctions. The money raised helps to support:
Ulster
Project of East Tennessee UT Presbyterian Center
Child and Family Crisis

Bachman Academy
Heifer

Least Coin , Thank, and Birthday Offerings
Newton Child Development Center Mission

Presbyterian Women also coordinates
meals for members of the congregation who are ill or experiencing family loss.
