Food Pantry Update –
Food Donations Needed!

Our Shepherd of Hope Food Pantry continues to service the needs of our community during this
COVID-19 situation maintaining the regularly schedules days and hours.  On March 23rd we served 112 guests and on April 6th we had 76 guests.  All volunteers are wearing gloves and face masks and the guests are receiving their needed items through an efficient drive-up system.  Jan Darnell, the pantry director, is assigning volunteers for the various shifts to limit the number of volunteers in the facility at one time.  If she needs us, she’ll send an e-mail requesting volunteers so you will not be receiving the regular quarterly schedule until things return to normal.

Jan usually orders food in case amounts from some local stores (Dollar Tree, Kroger, and Aldi) but a month ago the stores stopped taking special orders.  In addition, stores are limiting the number of items you can purchase at one time.  Although we continue to place orders with Second Harvest, they are obviously strained and some items are not available or limited.  Bottom line, the pantry is looking for donations of food items.

Faith Lutheran Church entrance

We are asking people to purchase one or two extra items when they shop or place an order and drop them at Faith Lutheran Church.  There are shopping carts at the covered arched entrance doors to Faith that face FPC where you can place your items and leave. The carts will be emptied frequently and the items inventoried and taken to pantry.  If possible, please avoid donating items in glass containers.

Here is the list of items pantry needs now:

Jelly/Jam any flavor 16-18 oz.
Large Soups (Like the size of Campbell’s Chunky)
Vegetable Oil – small bottles
Bar Soap
Pasta Sauce – (canned please)
