Good morning, FPC family.

No video this week. Instead, a reminder here about the opportunity we have to remember the events of 9-11 twenty-five years ago this Friday.

Remembering helps us honor and give thanks for the thousands who died that day, including the many heroes who gave of their lives to rescue those in harm’s way. They model for us what it means to love our neighbors.

Remembering also, though, allows us to preserve our story as a lesson for future generations and those of us who were too young to remember these events first-hand. In this unifying act, we come together to foster our shared identity.

This Friday, the city of Knoxville will have its annual 9-11 remembrance at Delaney Plaza near the downtown ballpark. It will be begin at 8:30, and the late Steve Tinder, husband of Janet, will be honored. Steve was a decorated Knoxville Police Officer who also assisted in the recovery following several national disasters, including 9-11 in New York. He’s worthy of our gratitude and honor, along with all those who teach us lessons of service we could all aim to emulate.

Join in worship this Sunday – 9:00 (casual) outside (weather-permitting) and 11:00 (traditional) in the sanctuary.
